Palm Springs Golf Vacation

Palm Springs, the desert golfing community outside of Los Angeles, has long been a haven destination for pros and amateur golf fanatics alike. Let’s face it, a golfing vacation has got to be one of the most relaxing ways imaginable to spend that hard-earned break. At La Quinta in Palm Springs, the concept of a Palm Springs Golf Vacation has been honed to perfection! Ninety holes and a world-class spa are only the beginning tip of the iceberg, though, in this elegant place to chill out under the desert sun.

A big part of the reason we chose La Quinta Golf Resort & Club was that we wanted to be pampered. Wth 23 tennis courts, 42 pools, 52 hot tubs and 7 restaurants, I was certain this PGA West tour headquarters was up to the challenge, even if I didn’t manage to book the Frank Capra suite that I wanted! And we didn’t leave disappointed either. At La Quinta, they thought of EVERYTHING! They even had a Bose base station for my iPod, and a loaded iPod available if I hadn’t brought my own! I really was blown away by the thoroughness, the attention to detail in this extraordinary resort. Traveling as much as I do, I see many good examples of the hospitality industry, but few can hold a candle to La Quinta. The breathtaking mountain views, the lush green in the middle of the desert, these combined to make it all the more the oasis I was after for my week of golfing vacation.

Palm Springs offers a lot more than “just” golf, though. There are scores of art galleries and museums, for example. For the outdoors crowd, there are horseback trail rides, polo fields, hiking, balloon rides, airplane tours, native American casinos, nature walks. The list of activities is distinguished, and seemingly endless. One can even take a drive on up through the nearby natural beauty found in the Joshua Tree National Monument.

For those who aren’t familiar with Palm Springs, the weather is almost always clear and sunny. There are over 340 days without rain every year! What this means is that the most you’ll need in the winter months is a jacket at night, to guard against a very slight chill. Summer nights are balmy, with a gentle seductive breeze encouraging one to stay poolside and order cocktails from there. The arid environment makes even the hottest of days comfortable, but most days are simply paradise in this wonderful city.

Entertainment greats like Bob Hope, Dean Martin, Jack Benny, Frank Sinatra and others, their names line the streets, literally. Sonny Bono was the long-time mayor. Television producers like Glen Larson, who produced hit TV shows Knight Rider, One West Waikiki, Battlestar Galactica, Magnum, PI, and Quincy, ME, they also make their second home in Palm Springs, with palatial estates. The stars have their choice of destinations, and yet they pick this wonderful place to live and visit. You’ll rub elbows with them all in Palm Springs!

While I was enjoying the week at La Quinta, I noticed that they also offer meeting and conference facilities. You can bet I’ll be pushing for La Quinta to be our next business destination as well!
