Ski Beaver Creek Colorado

By: All-SEO Admin

Just 2.5 hours outside of the Denver is one of the best-kept secrets in Colorado – Beaver Creek. The Ritz Carlton Bachelor Gulch may get more of the attention, but Beaver Creek is the best of the bunch for my money! Why? Because I love good powder but don’t like crowded lift lines, for starters… and because there’s just so much more to do!

For starters, Beaver Creek Colorado has the Vilar Center, a state-of-the-art performing arts theatre that brings in the same greats who perform at Carnegie Hall and Kennedy Center. Where else can you get that sort of entertainment for your apres-ski? Maybe that’s because Beaver Creek is also a summer hotspot for golfers and other outdoor enthusiasts. I don’t really care why they put the Vilar Center in, I’m just glad that they did!

The base of Beaver Creek Colorado is at 8100 feet, with the summit at 11,400 feet. What does that mean? It means 3,340 feet of rise into some of the best powder I’ve ever seen in my life. It means a long enough run that I can take advantage of the inter-village runs, and rub elbows with the folks over at Bachelor Gulch or Arrowhead Village, so I’m not missing out on either of those destinations either! It means the air is going to be that sweet sort of dry that makes for awesome snow without that cold, wet feeling. It means there are over a dozen lifts taking me up to 140 trails that cover something like 1600 acres of slopes. It means “I’m gonna have a great time!”

What about the rest of the family? They’re gonna have a great time, too. For starters, there are Bunny slopes for beginning skiers, as well as the intermediate slopes. One doesn’t have to be an expert to enjoy this resort, but if you are, there are challenging runs for you too! Snowboarding is really popular these days too, so the kids can transfer their surfing and skateboarding skills on over to the slopes. And even if some just want to stay in, I rent one of the Beaver Creek Colorado Condos, so there’s plenty of room to hang out. Beaver Creek Lodging is never a problem with the options available in the valley.

Even if I wanted to bring my mom and dad along, there’d be plenty for them to do. The area is steeped in history, from the Ute Indians, who were the original in habitants of this incredible resort area, to the stories George Townsend, who was one of the first Europeans to settle the area, all the way back in 1881. George’s wife Allie, is known as the unofficial First Lady of Beaver Creek, and hers is the story behind the name of Allie’s Cabin, one of the many charming restaurants and shops available to visitors.

That’s what I like best about Beaver Creek. No matter who you are, there’s something for everyone! There’s the Halloween Fest, before opening. I just went to the Vilar Center website and saw that Johnny Lange is playing this October 23rd! Then the Opening Day festivities around the 3rd week in November, The Talon Challenge in the 3rd week of January (over some 13 black diamond slopes!)… Always something going on to get your blood pumping, and then some of the best relaxation and entertainment on the planet for afterwards. That’s why it’s my favorite place to ski on earth. Beaver Creek? Heck yeah! What more could anyone want?
